Assoc Prof Michelle Gander

Michelle is Dean (People & Resources) in the College of HASS at Flinders University; she is also an Associate Professor of Sociology. She has published widely on careers within organisations, the careers of professional staff working in universities, and gender equity in senior management. She started her higher education career in the UK as a professional staff member, her last role was as the Director of Office of the COO at the Open University, before throwing it all away, emigrating to Australia and becoming a full-time student again to research her PhD. She is a Non-Executive Director at the Institute of Managers and Leaders (and a Chartered Fellow), a Fellow of ATEM, and a Fellow of Advance HE. Her book Managing Your Career in Higher Education Administration is available in all good (and some bad) bookshops.
