Venue & Location

Christchurch Convention Centre
95 Kilmore Street

The Christchurch Convention Centre is New Zealand's largest purpose-built convention venue. Situated in the heart of Christchurch's CBD, this iconic Canterbury landmark is surrounded by deluxe accommodation and is only 15 minutes from Christchurch International Airport. Its unique and contemporary architecture boasts a 10-metre high glass façade and is connected by air bridge to the Christchurch Town Hall for Performing Arts and one of the city's leading hotels.

Christchurch

Christchurch became New Zealand’s first city by Royal Charter in July 1856.  Over 150 years ago, the city’s visionary founders planned a unique cultural heart for the province of Canterbury.  Education, art, science, government, religion, history and recreation were all part of the investment within an area of less than one square kilometre, all entwined by the gently flowing Avon River.

Christchurch is internationally famed “The Garden City” and easy access to well established expansive parks and public gardens can be a memorable feature of your stay here.

Only a small investment in your time before or after the conference will enhance your attendance success at this conference with the opportunity you have to explore all the offerings of the region.

One or two hours drive will provide the options of:

To The East
…. Banks Peninsula with its wineries and the French Settlers harbour side village of Akaroa.

To The West
…. past fertile plains and braided rivers to mountain passes with delightful Alpine villages and spring ski-ing options.

To The North
…. reveal green rolling hills, forests and long empty beaches, to the whale watching centre of Kaikoura about 2 hours drive away.

To The South
…. an excursion through farmland crosses two more of Canterbury’s pristine rivers, ideal for fishing in, white-water rafting or kayaking.  Mt Hutt, the premier commercial ski area lies to the South West.

On behalf of the Organising Committee, I urge you to make a wise and strategic investment in your attendance in September 2008 and I look especially forward to welcoming you in Christchurch.
