As there is only one month to go before TEMC commences, accommodation cannot be guaranteed until we confirm directly with the hotel.
We have organised a number of hotels near the Christchurch Convention Centre at conference rates. All rates quoted in NZD.
Accommodation is quoted in NZD. In relation to booking your accommodation we MUST receive a credit card number to hold the room. This credit card number will be passed onto the hotel as a guarantee for your stay and will be charged upon check out per regular hotel arrangements.
The Organising Committee for the conference has individually inspected each of the hotels, and given a frank synopsis of the amenities and services available. Please take these comments into account in tandem with the factual information provided, and against the cost of the rooms per night.
Holiday Inn City Centre
10 minute walk (if you can resist window shopping) to the Christchurch 
Convention Centre
Situated in the heart of Christchurch, right on the doorstep of extensive boutique shopping at Cashel and High Street Malls with Cathedral Square a minute’s walk away. Picturesque views of the Southern Alps and Port Hills provide guests with an enticing backdrop. There is a a choice of individually air-conditioned guest rooms with in-room broadband access, sky TV, movies, private en-suite bathrooms, radio, direct dial telephones, iron, ironing board, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities.

Committee Comments: The Holiday Inn – City Centre is another “recycled” office building which has been made into an attractive hotel. Some of the rooms have very interesting shapes but all the rooms have good facilities. The hotel is 800m from the Convention Centre and like all the other central city hotels, has numerous bars and restaurants in close proximity. The higher floors of this property all have a view across the city. Parking is Valet only and limited.
Copthorne Hotel Christchurch Central
2 minute walk alongside the park to the Christchurch Convention Centre
The 4 star Copthorne Hotel Central overlooks beautiful Victoria Square and the tranquil River Avon and is located only five minutes walk from the centre of the city. The hotel completed a $5 million refurbishment in August 2002, and has a total of 142 guest rooms, 4 conference rooms, 3 of which have a balcony, and the rooms have been designed to maximise work productivity. The hotel is well known for its personalised service. Copthorne Hotel Central is extremely well located within the vicinity of the Town Hall and Convention Centre.

Committee Comments: Copthorne Central is an older hotel which has undergone numerous renovations and it is a comfortable and tidy property. The hotel is very close to the Convention Centre, Town Hall and the Casino and the front rooms overlook Victoria Square with the higher level rooms looking out to the Southern Alps. The rooms on the back of the hotel are a little more central city but there is a view of the Avon River and the higher rooms look out to the east and Banks Peninsula which you can see between the CBD buildings! Car parking is readily available.

Committee Comments: The Millennium is an attractive “recycled” office building which has been transformed into an excellent hotel. The property is located in Cathedral Square and is less than 1km from the Convention Centre. Car Parking is available by valet only and may be limited.

Committee Comments: This property is an apartment hotel which does not have any bar or restaurant facilities on site however there are numerous bars and restaurants in close proximity. The apartments are relatively small but are very functional and clean and the view is very “central city”. You will have a 1km walk to the Convention Centre or a 5 minute cab ride but it is not advisable to bring a rental car here as parking is very limited.

Committee Comments: The Crowne Plaza hotel is arguably Christchurch’s best hotel. The property is located 100m from the Convention Centre, Town Hall and less to the Casino. The rooms all have views and the hotel facilities are very good. Parking is available in an attached parking building.

Committee Comments: Rydges is an attractive hotel located about 600 meters from the Convention Centre and 50 meters from Cathedral Square The rooms are of excellent quality and are currently being upgraded with flat screen TV’s and new beds. The Hotel offers only 1 restaurant and bar but it is in the close vicinity to “the Strip” which has some excellent bars and restaurants. The adjacent parking building provides for guest vehicles.

Committee Comments: Copthorne Durham Street is clean and tidy property situated on the main intersection of Durham, Kilmore and Victroia Streets and is about 200m from the Convention Centre, Town Hall and Casino. The accommodation is clean and functional and the upper west side rooms have a view to the mountains. Car parking is limited at this property.
Holiday Inn on Avon
10 minutes walk from the Christchurch Convention Centre
Experience first hand the air of tranquility and peace at the Holiday Inn on Avon, nestled alongside the Avon River on the very edge of the CBD. This is due partly to location, but more so to the overall layout of the hotel - the light lobby, courtyard/garden settings, and the genuine warmth from the professional team.

Committee Comments: The Holiday Inn Avon is the least “Central City” of the hotels but is still only 1km from the Convention Centre. The property is spacious and because of its location in a largely residential area it is very quiet. The rooms are a little older but still very clean and functional. There is ample car parking available.
